 David V. Shamoian, president of the Peabody Hotel Group, has a diverse hotel background spanning 30 years that affords him the foresight required to successfully develop and manage a wide variety of lodging products. He has considerable experience and expertise in opening, from concept to completion, a wide range of luxury and upper mid-scale hotels, creating successful restaurant concepts, and repositioning existing hotel products. David received his degree in Hotel, Restaurant and Travel Administration from the University of Massachusetts and upon graduation, joined the Sheraton Corporation’s hotel management training program. He held management positions with Sheraton at a variety of upscale hotels, including the world famous Copley Plaza hotel located in downtown Boston, Massachustts. David then joined The Flatley Co. and held a variety of senior management positions within the Tara Hotel Division. David joined the Peabody Hotel Group in 1978. During his 26 years with the organization, he has served in numerous leadership capacities – including general manager, vice president of food and beverage, vice president, director of operations, executive vice president and president. David has served on the IAHI board for eight years. He has held numerous positions, including Chairman in 2004-2005, immediate past Chairman and Vice Chairman of IAHI, past President of the Crowne Plaza Hotel Marketing Association, and past Chairman of the Crowne Plaza Committee. He also is a Board Member of the Metrowest Chamber of Commerce, Board Member of the Massachusetts Transportation Authority, and Chairman of the Massachusetts and Memphis chapters of the United Way. David was the recipient of the "Outstanding Achievement Award" Chef D' Cuisine Society of Boston in 1984 and the PHG President's Award for Excellence in 1998. He is a former Air Force officer, having served on active duty and in the Massachusetts Air National Guard. |
