The IAHI's Powerful Purpose
A note from IAHI President Eva Ferguson
I am proud to be the President of the most powerful and well-established
association of hotel owners in the hospitality industry. In fact, the
Association just surpassed its 50-year milestone.
My primary focus is
on the organization's operations for our nearly 2,700 global members.
I work closely with the IAHI leadership and IHG management teams to
establish policy and direction. Also, the IAHI staff is consistently
enhancing member benefits and delivering value-added programs that meet
or exceed the ever-changing needs of our diverse family of franchisees.
In addition, expanding membership
globally and increasing revenues help strengthen the Association. To accomplish
this, we’re taking proactive steps to attract
new members and ensuring that we develop effective communication vehicles for
our current membership. As part of this initiative, we’re also increasing
IAHI's presence and awareness through greater coverage in the lodging trade press,
reaching out to other industry groups, and increased involvement on Capitol Hill.
With many challenges facing owners this year – from immigration
reform, "check card" legislation and labor relations to new
technology and bedding standards – it’s never been more important to
speak with one strong, unified voice on behalf of the IHG system. And
because there’s strength in numbers, we’re pushing harder
than ever to increase membership in the IAHI.
As an IAHI member, you have access to the best hoteliers in the world,
who have experience with the same issues as you. You also have access
to exclusive programs like our General Manager Academy and Leadership
Institute, and our lobbying efforts on behalf of the system. So please
encourage your fellow owners who are not members of the IAHI to join
today.
I
welcome your comments and suggestions and look forward to our future together
at IAHI.
