Leadership Biography: Herman Bern

Miramar Development Corp.

Herman is president of Miramar Development Corp., where he owns and operates four hotels in Panama. Since 1979, he also has developed several companies in the construction and real estate industries under Empresas Bern, S.A., a holding company. These companies include construction, promotion and development of real estate, aluminum and glass manufacturing, kitchen and cabinets factory, and pile driving in the Republic of Panama.

The native of Panama serves as President of the IAHI - Latin America, and was past President of the Panamanian Construction Chamber and Founding President of the Smithsonian Foundation of Panama. He is a member of numerous other organizations, including the World Presidents Organization, Panamanian Society of Engineers and Architects, American Society of Civil Engineers, and Kiwanis Club.

Herman received his civil engineering degree from Santa Maria La Antigua University in Panama, and did post graduate studies at Cambridge University and Polytechnic Institute of Central London. He is married and is the father of four children.
